Remote partially working - Vero 4K+

Hello there,

I have a partially working remote - or that is almost exaggerating (as I only get feedback visually - when using the back button on the remote).

The only (visual) confirmation I get that Vero is receiving input - is that e.g. if a movie poster is highlighted - and I press the back button on the remote - the poster indicates (animates) that it is pushed.
Another example is - if I’m playing back a video - and I push the back button the remote - I am returned to the user interface of Kodi.

If I hook up the remote to my laptop - and open Kodi - the remote behaves like it should - all buttons are in a working order.

Is there any way I can reset the remote in OSMC - so it will start working again?

I enabled debug logging - and afterwards a couple of restarts of Kodi.
I pushed all the buttons (one by one) on the remote - and here are the logs:

Do you by any chance own two remotes?
I wonder if you mixed up the dongles.

Hi Sam.

(sorry for the delayed answer).
Yes - as a matter of fact I have 3 remotes (two of them bundled with the Vero 4k+ when I purchased them - and one bought separately).

To the best of my knowledge I haven’t mixed up the dongles - but how do determine which is which?

Visually, they all look the same, but they will have different VID/PID identifiers for each remote.

When did you buy the separate one and when did you buy the ones with the Vero 4K/4K+?

Tough ask - I will try my best.

Tried to locate the invoice for the one I bought separate - but no luck.
Bought here at least 5 years ago - used together with a PC.

The ones bundled:
First one is bought together with a Vero for my self - back in october 2018. (I can see that from my “orders” page).
The other one - came together with a Vero that I bought from one of my colleagues @ work. - best guess here is sometime during 2021.

I don’t know if that’s usable or not - but that is what memory serves me.

2018 and 2021 would have different VID/PIDs and remote implementations.
The way I’d approach this:

  • Unplug all receivers
  • Attach any receiver and pair it to remote by holding Home and OK
  • Check button functionality. If working, then great, put the dongle and remote both aside. If not, try with another dongle until all functionality is working.

So trial and error will determine who belongs together.
I will give it a go and see where it takes me :upside_down_face:

Edited:
Got my remote back up and working - following Sams suggestion.
Could have sworn I hadn’t been mixing up remotes/receivers - but nevertheless - the remote is up and running again :muscle:

Have a great weekend, and stay safe while Eowin is roaring in your neighborhood
