Reuse the 4K remote?

Hi guys, I have a Vero4K remote control sitting around without any use (I use Yatse for controlling the Vero). On the other hand, the bluetooth speakers in my home office need a remote control to power on and the control it came with just sucks. Both the Vero remote and the control for the speakers are RF and even look similar (see the attached photo), so I’ve been thinking about repurposing the Vero remote control to use it with my speakers.
Is that possible? Can it be “reprogrammed”?

Thanks a lot!

Probably not. It’s paired to the USB dongle and basically just sends commands that look like keyboard commands. I can’t imagine an easy way to reprogram the microprocessor in the remote. BTW, they look similar because that’s basically the “standard” layout for almost every remote out there.

Yes, it’s theoretically possible for 4K/4K+ remotes but you can brick the remote receiver.

Here’s an old photo from @thechrisgregory when I sent him a remote and the receiver had not been flashed with the correct firmware.

Would you know the keys you even need to replicate?

Is there an opportunity for the BT speakers to use USB keyboard receivers?

thanks!

nah, I’m not technical enough to tamper with that. If there’s no an easy solution, so be it…
Thank you!
