Today I installed the october update on my Pi 1 and after the reboot kodi got stuck in a sad face loop.
If i manually install the previous rbp1-mediacenter-osmc_16.1.0-20_armhf.deb everything works fine.
If I install the rbp1-mediacenter-osmc_16.1.0-24_armhf.deb kodi get stuck in the sad face loop again.
In System Journal I found this suspicious line:
Nov 04 22:09:05 pi mediacenter[2543]: *** Error in `/usr/lib/kodi/kodi.bin’: free(): invalid pointer: 0xa43453b8 ***

Also, please try the following commands as the default osmc user:
sudo systemctl stop mediacenter
mv /home/osmc/.kodi /home/osmc/kodi.bak
sudo systemctl start mediacenter

Ok thanks yknivag.
I moved .kodi and actual kodi mediacenter started flawlessly.
Afterwards I restored the .kodi backup and removed a suspicious pvr addon which causes the trouble. All fine now.
