Sad face on me and my vero

Hi all

seems my vero had a rough night last night and is very unhappy this morning.

updated to RC2 yesterday no problems and was using for a few hours after the upgrade but came down this morning to a sad face in a square with blue background then screen turns black then flicks back the sad face again .

dmesg shows:

Upload the entire log to http://paste.osmc.io/ and provide the guys with a the link.

kodi.log - http://paste.osmc.io/egolenopev.coffee
dmesg - http://paste.osmc.io/qiravakuci.vhdl

p.s no idea how I managed to post in general discussion i was in help and support when I created it

You can always edit it after you posted. Just did it for you

thanks

Pastebin your guisettings.xml please and also put kodi into debugging (then reboot and post the kodi.log again) mode via advancedsettings.xml (see kodi wiki) I suspect it tries to switch to non existing Modeline.

http://paste.osmc.io/worejetuco.xml - guisettings.xml

now apologies if im doing something stupid but trying to create the advancedsettings file in ~/.kodi/userdata I get the following: (tried with sudo and get the same output)

‘advancedsettings.xml’ Read-only file system

Pete

ok thats strange, I loaded the SD on my laptop and created the advanced setting file which worked booted the vero back up and its booted fine this time

Pete

That means your sdcard’s journal was broken before:

[ 1.520048] EXT4-fs (mmcblk0p2): recovery complete
[ 1.520065] EXT4-fs (mmcblk0p2): mounted filesystem with ordered data mode. Opts: (null)
[ 1.520107] VFS: Mounted root (ext4 filesystem) readonly on device 179:2.

Yeah, one can also see that in:

[ 302.031141] EXT4-fs (mmcblk0p2): error count since last fsck: 178
[ 302.031161] EXT4-fs (mmcblk0p2): initial error at time 1428446514: ext4_mb_generate_buddy:757
[ 302.031173] EXT4-fs (mmcblk0p2): last error at time 1428572257: ext4_mb_generate_buddy:756

Did you have a power outage? Removed the plug without shutting down?

not that im aware of no, but I have seen the second 3 lines started coming up recently (didnt know if they were serious or not) but believe they started since I restored a dd image of the card :s is it likely to go again ? just check dmesg again and that error count message is still there, is there any error checking or anything I should do on the card if the filesystem is a bit messed up ? I have a ubuntu laptop available that can read the card if required

Pete

Yeah, fsck the partitions from your ubuntu pc - make sure they are umounted.

Hi

These commands may help you:

  • Insert into laptop
  • Run ```
    sudo fsck.ext4 /dev/sdb
(verify that /dev/sdb is your device).
