Hi I am a happy Vero 4K+ user and see that is is no longer supported.
I am using it with confluence UI and contrilling it with the logitech harmony hub.
On the logitech page I cannot add osmc Vero V
There is Vero 4K as the latest version, Will these settings work with Vero V?
My biggest issue I have with the 4K+, is that scrolling trough video’s is slow with the harmony *about .5 seconds/keypress . WIll that be fatser with the V version
I had a defec so allsettings where lost. I reconfigered most appart from this:
I remember when scrolling through the file list , I alway could have separate key’s for file up/down and Page up/down but for some reason I cannot get that page up/down
I also have a Logitech Harmony hub. I’m not sure whether the OSMC Vero1, Vero2 and Vero 4k in the Logitech db are just infrared remote controls …?
I configure since long time Vero devices as Windows PC and pair them via Bluetooth:
Isn’t there a setting for this somewhere?
I could have sworn I have seen something somewhere about how many milliseconds you can set a held button for.
Which presumable would make holding down the UP and DOWN buttons to scroll through the library quicker
EDIT
Looks like it can be configured with advancedsettings.xml
From the KODI wiki:
Input control settings
remotedelay
The repeat delay for a LIRC remote control. A delay value between 1 and 20 before a remote button starts repeating on a long keypress (i.e. continuously sending button pushes while it’s held down).
Navigating the UI is faster with the V than the 4K, generally speaking, as it has faster hardware, but the 4K should not have been that slow to begin with. I’d recommend using a regular PC keyboard or an OSMC remote to navigate and confirm that the delay is just with the Harmony remote. If it is then you might look into tweaking your Harmony settings to change Inter-key delay and/or IR repeat rate to speed up the remote itself. A Harmony using IR is never going to be as fast as an RF remote, but it shouldn’t feel painfully slow either.
You can make this a little faster than the built in IR receiver by using a FLIRC USB IR receiver instead. I use these with a Harmony remote on almost every TV in my house.
If you had redone the profile in My Harmony you might have not gone into the button mapping and set these buttons to page up/down. It is common for not all buttons to be programed to do what you want, or even to do anything at all with stock button layouts in My Harmony.
As for programing the remote for these devices you would program it as an “OSMC Vero” if your remote has bluetooth capabilities only (you also need to pair the remote to the Vero in this type of setup as well) and for an IR setup you would choose any compatible type of device. In OSMC you can open the remote section of the My OSMC add-on and see the list of preconfigured remote profiles. You would pick one of those and program your Harmony to emulate the same. Using MCE or XBox is probably the best choices. In My harmony “Microsoft Media Center PC” is a MCE profile.
If you want to up your game even more make sure the number buttons are programed to send the numbers in My Harmony and then in Kodi keymap them in the library to JumpSMS actions so you can quickly bounce directly to a letter position in your library. I have a large library and I find it a huge time saver.
Also, in case you weren’t aware, you can in most cases highlight a scroll bar in the library views and the direction buttons will act the same as a page up/down hard buttons.
I will look at the link you provided…
I did not need to redo the profile it was a problem in the hub.
But I also checked the key mapping that was as always.
The harmony can use many different modes to control. IR , is one of them. It was fairly fast in the past.
The scrollbars I have seen and that working and that is a work around.
But in the past it was just a keypress foa one page uo/down.
The Vero remote works normal but for the wife I have all in one remote (better WAF)
I will look further with that remote setting in myosmc
It would if you added them to the screen. You could make a on screen button for “2” labeled “abc” and then keymap that in Kodi to “JumpSMS2” so the button when pressed would quick navigate to a, then b, then c on each press. There is also NextLetter and PrevLetter actions that someone could use instead of page up/down if they found that to be more advantageous.
I do not like the Touchscreen for conroll.
I only would want my Channel + and- to work like I had Pgege up and down.
I get the idea that somewhere that mapping is broken in Kodi.
The keys are mapped in the remote to channel up and down.
Broken because by default you want the button assignments something non-standard? Install the keymap editor add-on and go to edit>videos (or global depending on preference)>navigation> and program page up/down to your channel up/down buttons then go back a few screens and tell it to save.
Alternatively you can go into the button assignments in My Harmony for the activity you are using for Kodi and change the channel up/down buttons to send page up/down.
Either way makes little difference. You have full control over what the remote sends out and Kodi lets you tweak what buttons do on a per screen basis (ie a button will do one thing when browsing a library but something else when playing a video).
I do not remember doing non standard thing in the past when I started using the Vero with the Harmony.
I just installed the Vero with the network shares and in the harmony app I selected the Vero4 and assigned the buttons for it and it worked.
I do not remeber doing special settings. But I might have forgiotten things after years. I will have a look at the keymap editor to see if I can fix it there.
I have the keymap editor installed
After that I 'learned the command from the HArmny by pressing the key within 5 seconds , that did the trick.! Thanks For this suggestion
Stepping through the list is still to be solved I see the HArmony responds fast. so thats no issue there.
But I will try how it feels when we are watching series.
