Hi everybody!
I have just tried to update my Raspberry Pi 2 as usual and the Kodi system has told me that there were some problems in the update process and that Kodi should be restarted.
I have restarted the system without success. Not even attempt to boot from the system. I have checked the Micro SD Card in another system and I have realized that the /boot directory is empty.
Could someone please tell me how to boot the system now? Can I get the files from someone, so that I can at least boot my system?
Thanks!
Please be aware that it might be a failing SD card that has caused this problem.
If at all possible, I’d recommend that you install a new copy of OSMC onto a fresh card. You then have several possible paths you can take:
- copy the /boot contents from the new installation to the old card and carry on using the old card; or
- as above but run the old card just long enough to back off your Kodi configuration; or
- use the new installation and either reconfigure Kodi from scratch or reload the backup created in option 2. This would be the safest approach.
Thanks for the answer!
I have already installed a new copy of OSMC in a new card and, to my surprise, the /boot directory is also empty!!!
Where is the information about the kernel image that has to be loaded during the boot process? In all linux I know, this information is stored in /boot
Thanks!
I think OP is accessing boot via ext4 not realising it’s mounted to the vfat partition on Pi
Thanks! I know what is the problem. The /boot partition is separated from the / and it appears as a new partition in my Linux box. I have found the files… I hope now that copying these files to the old OSMC card works…
Thanks!!
It worked!!! I just copied the content of the new card to the old one and now it’s booting again!!!
Thanks, guys!
