This seems very unlikely for two reasons.
One is that the default cachemembuffersize on a 512MB Pi is already 20MB so your setting is only setting it to the size it already was.
The second reason is that it has absolutely nothing to do with the error that you were seeing. So I’m afraid it’s just a co-incidence that it is working after you made this change.
