Testing an OSMC remote

I have just received a new black OSMC remote and it doesn’t seem to work on my pi. The battery is OK.

I have also tried plugging the USB receiver into a Windows PC. It installs as an HID keyboard device. I ran a Windows keyboard diagnostic program. Keypresses on the remote don’t seem do do anything.

Can anybody suggest a further test before I send it back?

Is the Pi running OSMC?
Does the blue led flicker when you press a button or is there a long pulse?

Also make sure you rebooted your device after inserting the receiver

I tried it just now and there was a steady blue light on keypress and it seemed to work.

Out of interest I plugged the receiver into a PC and ran Keycodes3 (available from here - file:///C:/DelphiExamples/KeyCodes/Keyboard%20Codes%20Display.htm) and I got keystrokes for a while.

Then it died again - no blue light, no data. I have a feeling it is an intermittent
hardware fault. Although the battery was OK on a battery tester, I tried a fresh one. It now seems to work.

When I tested it on the PC every key now gives a steady blue light, but the following keys give no data: i, the three lines next to return, << and >>.

The original battery came with the controller and had a plastic tab in the battery case on delivery.

See how you get on with it under OSMC.
