Thanks. Think I found the issue.
mediacenter[17664]: / /usr/lib/kodi/kodi.bin: error while loading shared libraries:
libbluetooth.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
On my dev box I was messing around with bluetooth trying to get my PS3 controller working. The library was found and added to the build - which explains why its working fine here 
Will run another build with it disabled and see if it fixes the problem.
