[TESTING] Vero V: Dolby Vision FEL support

Thanks Graham, I had wondered that indeed. Is that different to HDR10, then, where the setting continues to have an effect for me?

I have an oldish LG OLED (a B8), so I have a few options, but in general I set DV material to have the same settings irrespective of source (Cinema Home). A brightness setting of 50 works well with literally every other source I’ve tried, but with the Vero I now have to ramp brightness up to a rather unprecedented 58 or 59 to get similar behaviour. Hence my sense that black level for the signal is now being incorrectly interpreted somewhere along the line.

I’m pretty sure this is a recent phenomenon. Is there an easy way to roll back from the test build to most recent stable?

grahamh,

how do I know if I got the updates today? I opened my Vero V today and did not see any “notification”, I went to myOSMC and did a manual check for updates and saw some words in the left upper cornor about something “dubian”, but it was gone before I could read the whole message

I let the update complete and it did, but when it went to “updating cache, please wait” which I did, but then I got a “No Updates” message in the middle of the screen

also after the update I opened Bugonia, which is supposed to be Fel P7, but their is no playerInfo to see any type of information regarding “profile”

Thanks in advance for your reply

No release today. There’s been a last-minute attempt to improve subtitle brightness. Personally I don’t think it should be a blocker but others disagree.

ok, thank you

There’s a way but it’s not very easy. I assume your TV allows different settings on each input. Is there a reason not to set the input that Vero is on differently from the others?

Yes, it’s easy to have a separate setting, and that’s already done, but I’m very curious as to what’s actually going on. I’d love to get to the bottom of it.

Is this update you guys are talking about another test build or the official public release?

The latter :+1:t2:

I received an update today, any word on what it changed?

How do you know if you received the update? I did not see any notification of an update and my Vero V has been on all morning?

Run a update from my osmc app :sign_of_the_horns:

yes, i did, but I get “downloading” message, but it never tells you “what” was downloaded. I also get some meesage saying something abut “cache”, but it says that and never finish, even after an half an hour?

If you are on the staging repo you probably would have got these

osmc@veroV5:~$ sudo apt list --upgradeable

if “staging repo” means I installed the test version, no I didn’t, could not open with Putty.

Looking at the recent replies here, I’m a bit confused. Does profile 7 FEL now work on the public release or do I still need the testing/staging branch deacribed in the op?

Thanks.

If you are not on staging, you will still get the non-osmc packages from Debian.

FEL only works on staging. Until tomorrow :crossed_fingers:

He means there will be an update for your Vero 5 that will theoretically enable FEL.

OK, “don’t call us, we will call you” got it.
