Turn off TV via HDMI while in screensaver mode

I’d like my RC6 remote’s power button turn turn off my TV. The Raspberry Pi2B shall remain on and in screensaver or “dim” mode. When a key is pressed on the remote my TV shall be turned on again. Currently the power button puts the OSMC’s screen into “dim” mode. I have seen articles on controlling the TV using cec-client (API command to turn HDMI-CEC TV off). The article mentions, though, that controlling cec is a service provided through kodi.

Is this available in OSMC, can be scripted using RPC or needs to be a feature request?

OSMC has Kodi ‘built in’, and so the comments in that article apply.
Is your RC6 controlling the TV directly?
What remote are you using with the TV, and what make and model is the TV?
Doesn’t the RC6 power button provoke the shutdown menu on-screen?
