Upgrading from raspberry pi b+ To 3

Evening everybody,

I currently have a b+ running osmc for the past two years and have now purchased a pi 3 to upgrade. I was hoping to put the existing sd card into the new pi and away I went. But all I’m getting is a rainbow screen on booting the new pi. I’ve tried sudo apt-get update and dist-upgrade on the b+ and tried again but same issue.

Any help much appreciated

You will need to reinstall.
The Pi2/Pi3 version is different.

The good news is you can make a backup. See Wiki - OSMC and let us know if you have any trouble

Thanks for the reply. I’ve just started a backup and I will reinstall tomorrow.
