USB Mouse not working

I installed OSMC on a sd card on a Pi 3, Model B, v1.2. I connected it to my TV and I get the language select screen but my USB mouse does not work. I see the mouse light up on boot but then once OSMC is booted and it is at the language select screen, the light on the mouse turns off.

It is either does not like my Dell Mouse or I am not getting enough power to it?! I do not know how to boot this sd card from PC to run any commands or see the log files.

The img file I installed on my SD card is OSMC_TGT_rbp2_20170210.img.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Did you reboot since plugging in the mouse?
Also check PSU as you suggested.

Thank you Sam. A simple question: I have a PSU which says Output: 5V – 4A
If I used that PSU would that fry my Pi?

Yes, I rebooted and mouse still does not work. I get the language select screen and cannot move further on setup.

Try it after you set up OSMC

I have ordered a rasberri pi 3 official power source. I will try it out and see if my issue resolves. I will follow up next week.

Mouse and keyboard not working. I am using an official power source too. I installed a remote control app for the pi and that is working so I did the initial setup that way. But what a drag. I really want the USB mouse and keyboard to work with the pi but maybe it has to do with the bootup config file which needs editing or configuring. Still doing research.

Login to the pi via SSH and post the URL from dmesg | paste-log

Details regarding how to access the command line interface can be found here on our Wiki: Accessing the command line - General - OSMC

Thank you, will do ASAP

OK Here is the log.

Hi here are the log files.

I occasionally receive a dbus notification error. The message tells me to check the logs but IAM a noob here, an adult infant hoping to find a bigger brain who can lead me to a solution.

Thanks for any errors you may find. Please point me in the right direction.

That is normal not to be concerned of.

So I assume your original problem USB mouse/keyboard still not working?
Also earlier you wrote it is a “DELL”, can not see any entries for that in the USB devices.
Suggest to install usb-utils sudo apt-get install usb-utils and then boot OSMC without them connected then attach one after the other and when both connected provide the output of:
lsusb | paste-log
dmesg | paste-log

Thank you for the reply and what a good idea. I will try that tonight. Brb.

No USB devices are found to be connected so either your USB ports are broken or some other incompatibility exists

Thanks for helping me out fzinken.

I will need to find a workaround.

This is a bit silly but are the power and USB the correct way around? If wrong way the device works but USB will not.
