USB3 Port Not Working + a Couple of Other Possible Issues

Just plumbed in my Vero V after 6 years of using a Vero 4k+. I run a simple, no extras set up with media playing from an external powered HDD via a decent USB3 cable.

First thing I noticed was the remote control ‘lag’ (after replacing the dead battery). Some button presses seem to be ignored (but could be simply be lack of finger pressure as I’m used to a worn remote).

But the USB 3 port (the lower of the two, I presume) doesn’t seem to do anything. I plug in the drive, power it up, and nothing happens. Connecting the same drive to the USB2 port results in the drive being recognised within a few seconds, similar to what I’m used to with the V4k+.

However, I am noticing media taking longer to start running. Up to 20 seconds from button press to the AV starting playing. However, playback is crisp and audio is good.

Only other problem is the damn fast forward glitch. It spannered my V4k+, and here it is again - although the V5 recovers quicker. Still incredibly annoying, though. Bring on the next update.

Any help or suggestions for what I’ve missed regarding the USB3 configuration/setup would be appreciated. Thank you.

The fast forward glitch is fixed in the staging repository. It will be part of a stable update shortly but I can give you some advice on how to apply it now if you’d like.

Have you got another device you can try in the USB3 port?

Sam

One quick trip next door later…

I shall take myself away for a talking to about jumping the gun before checking EVERY combination of possible answers. Looks like the USB3 doesn’t see the drive because it’s not actually USB3. I’ll f*ck off to investigate that and leave you in peace. Thanks, Sam.

(As for the FFWD issue, I’ll wait for the update as it’s only going to be a couple of weeks.)
