USBUIRT on Vero V

I’m a new Vero V user, but I’ve had a long experience with Kodi running on Windows PCs around the house.

I would like to try using my USBUIRT device as the IR receiver for the Vero V. I find the built in IR receiver has a very narrow field of pickup, and had used the USBUIRT for a long time before I switched to the Vero.

I’ve found a few old threads about using this device, mainly with reference to the OSMC fork of Kodi rather than the Vero. I know I have to get lircd to use a different driver and device, and did some experimentation, but can never get it to work. Also, due to the customizations for this device, I’m not positive I’m even editing the working copy of the lirc_options.conf file.

Does anyone have advice on making this happen with the current day releases and the Vero?

Stupid question: but did you remove the film off the IR receiver?

I’m not familiar with the USBUIRT, but if you need some help with it, I’ll do my best.
First thing would be making sure it’s detected and loads properly. A log should confirm that
