If I try playing an mkv containing 2160p UHD content, I get a black screen, followed shortly afterwards by the HDMI signal completely dropping out. The Vero V is still running as I can perform a reboot from Yahtze or PuTTY. Is there something obvious I’ve missed, is this a peculiarity of the file I’m trying to play, or is it something else?
Is it happening with other files of similar format?
To get a better understanding of the problem you are experiencing we need more information from you. The best way to get this information is for you to upload logs that demonstrate your problem. You can learn more about how to submit a useful support request here.
Depending on the used skin you have to set the settings-level to standard or higher, in summary:
-
enable debug logging at settings->system->logging
-
reboot the OSMC device twice(!)
-
reproduce the issue
-
upload the log set (all configs and logs!) either using the
Log Uploadermethod within the My OSMC menu in the GUI or thesshmethod invoking commandgrab-logs -A -
publish the provided URL from the log set upload, here
Thanks for your understanding. We hope that we can help you get up and running again shortly.

Are you still experiencing an issue?

I think so - it got dropped to the bottom of the “to do” list. I’ll try to get some diagnostics shortly.
Cheers, let me know.

I’m also getting a Pulse-8 CEC Adapter failed to initialise error (but not on every reboot), which doesn’t seem to affect anything.
Can you check your system is fully up to date? Some logs seem to be missing (like ramoops) which would be useful.
Sam
It’s showing as May 2026 2026.05-1, and no updates available.
The player was still running when I did that first grab - don’t know if that might have confused things. Is this any better? https://paste.osmc.tv/rafegojaju
