Can you try staging, which has some fixes that may help.

I’d appreciate it if you could test this and provide feedback before we potentially release this as an update to other users. To test this update:

  1. Login via the command line
  2. Run the following command to add the staging repository:
    echo 'deb http://apt.osmc.tv bullseye-devel main' | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/osmc-devel.list
  3. Go to My OSMC → Updater → Manual Controls → and select Check for Updates now. When prompted to do so on screen, please choose to install the update.
  4. Your system should have have received the update.

Please see if the issue is resolved.

I also recommend you remove /etc/apt/sources.list.d/osmc-devel.list after updating.

This will deactivate the staging repository. You can do so with the following command:
sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/osmc-devel.list.

Please note that we will automatically disable this update channel after 14 days on your device in case you forget to do so to ensure that your system reverts to the stable update channel.

Sure thing. i installed the version as you recommended.

Movie 1 that showed the half picture issue. this one is good now. colors and picture are as to be expected. it is detected as being dolby vision.

Movie 2 that showed flickering screen with parts of the menu flickering with the video. the picture is no longer flickering. the brightness is very high though. blacks are way too bright with this one. it is also detected as being dolby vision.

What am I missing? Neither of those movies seem to be Dolby Vision.

Correct. When playing these two movies, my tv switches to dolby vision mode and osmc says the movie is dolby vision. when I press the i icon on the vero v remote it shows the movies are dolby vision. i dont think they are though.

I have the issue too:
DV files that were playing fine before are now a black screen when played.

I am not tech savvy but I managed to do it:

Issue is still here, all my DV files display a blackscreen when played.

The TV (Bravia 8 II Oled) seems to detect DV when I check the signal info, but screen stays black.
Quite annoying.

Hi. May not be the reason you’re having issues, but on the off chance it may help…are you aware that several Sony Bravia models are experiencing problems displaying Dolby Vision files from hdmi connected devices after a recent firmware update?

It happened to my A95L a while back and Sony is still working on a fix. TV shows a black screen when any DV file is played. The fix is to play the file, open TV’s settings menu, back out, and the picture and sound return.

Either way, hope you get it sorted soon.

Thanks, I was not aware of that issue and my tv seems affected indeed:
I tried your fix and the video returned but only in tones of pink and green which is unwatchable.

Do you know where I can have more info on that issue?

Ah, same boat! My A95L had that exact Dolby Vision glitch after updating. Really appreciate the heads-up on the Home + TV (directly going to the right HDMI port) button trick. That worked instantly! :+1:

Mind sharing where you found that info? A specific site?

Hi. If the video still isn’t displaying correctly then I’m not sure what that’s down to. All my files play perfectly once I back out from settings menu.

Unable to find specific links for you right now, but if you google something like ‘Sony Bravia Dolby Vision issue after firmware update’ you should find some recent Facebook and Reddit posts with lots of users with the exact same issue.

Spoke to Sony support yesterday - having raised this issue with them about 6 weeks ago - who say they’re actively working on a fix having had lots of users report this to them.

Bummer. I stumbled upon it completely by accident while trying to find a fix in the tv menus.
