Tips for that error say try plugging to a powered hub, but this is the osmc one fresh out of packing andcan see the power is working.
It’s just a little SanDisk extreme 2tb flash, so I’d have expected that to be OK, but just tried a SanDisk 128gb stick instead and that gives the same error.
The stick definitely worked fine Sunday night straight into the same usb 3 port on the vero, it’s exfat and I wanted to check that format would be OK.
Do you have any chunky power drains connect to the device like a DVB tuner or spinning hard disk?
The other reason you could see a unsafe message could be a loose connection somewhere with a cable. This wouldn’t be power related but just a poor connection.
Thanks as always, having checked half a dozen threads nearly asked how to Upload logs then remembered the menu https://paste.osmc.tv/bowavukalu
I’ve rechecked cables, as you know the osmc hub ones are robust for power, into the hub and into the vero. It’s the same for the extreme drive too, indeed the latter I plugged into a pc USB port Sunday and copied over 1.5tb without a glitch, then moved (overly) confidently to the hub next day and started scratching my head.
Just the flash (128) errored in the hub too, that was about 2305. About 2308 I plugged in the flash without the hub and that worked as expected. I’ve uploaded a log here just in case https://paste.osmc.tv/wwixatqoo
Managed to plug it into the usb 3 and have it recognized, managed to reimport all the library and fixed the thumbnails which weren’t present.
Unfortunately went to check it tonight and the Extreme has stopped showing up within /media/. In case it was due to lack of power I plugged it into the hub and plugged that into the usb 3, performed a restart but no detection so I’ve grumpily turned it off
To be honest this is the first time I’ve used usb, since I bought the vero v, I previously used smb as the same drive was plugged into my router, unfortunately I’m now on an inferior ISP router with no USB port, hence why I thought I’d go this route.
@sam_nazarko sorry to bother you again, one last question
Just your opinion - is there any value in me performing a factory reset on the vero or would that be a waste of time as the issue is clearly usb related?
I guess there’s a pointer to your earlier suggestion if the drive is constantly being detected and ejected when plugged into USB 3 and the hub, yet if I remove the hub and plug same drive straight into USB 3 it will successfully scan hundreds of GBs of content.
Just so weird given that you tend to think of a powered hub as a comparatively straightforward device
