Will Vero and OSMC do this?

I need a replacement for my WDTVLive media player.

I’m not into streaming, although I’d probably try it if I had a suitable player.

All I want to do at the moment is:

  1. Plug the player into my TV via HDMI

  2. Connect the player to a USB dock that sits alongside. It holds a 2TB HDD.

  3. Connect the player to my home network by cable.

My WDTVLive does all three but not very reliably.

Would the Vero\OSMC do all this?

Thanks for reading

Yes the Vero 4K will do all of that out of the box. It should play all your media with no problems, unless you have some oddly encoded videos.

Thanks for your response, bmillham.

Something I forgot to ask:

Let’s assume I connect my new (as yet un-purchased) Vero 4K to my TV, and then connect it to a USB hard drive dock (that contains a 2TB hard drive) and then connect the Vero to my home network (via a network RJ45 cable).
Should I be able to see, via my computer, the contents of the 2TB hard drive that’s sitting in the USB dock?

Yes you can share the files while installing the Samba Server from the App Store

Thanks all, very helpful.
Cheers :triumph:
