444 10bit output from vero 4k

There is a negative effect that i tried to demonstrate with the samples i sent you. If you force bt.2020 and the source is bt.709 the colors are all wrong. I dont know what equipment other people and/or if they are playing this kind of content. Changing colorspaces when there is no need to i think is wrong.

I’ve actually checked this and can confirm that sending a 10-bit 444 signal when playing back SDR content should not cause any ill effects.

The device will send a 10-bit signal, but the additional bits will be zeros for SDR content. This will be ignored by the receiving device if it follows the spec. If things look different, then it’s possible that your display is performing some dithering.

This has been confirmed by some other users, who state that there is no problem playing SDR content when Vero 4K is sending a 10-bit signal. I believe that others would have noticed colour problems if this was a widespread issue:

AWESOME! This is working great for me. I can confirm that my receiver & TV are both receiving a 10bit signal from the Vero4k with no ill effects. I watched plenty of 10bit content and it looks considerably better now, and there isn’t any negative effect on 8bit content, although it does always seem to output a 10bit BT.2020 signal regardless of the bit-depth of the content (don’t see any problem here, just reporting everything I’ve noticed. However, I can see merit in outputting an 8-bit signal when Rec709 content is being played. Even if just for the fact that you should be able to see how Vero 4K is interpreting the file and what the signal should be.
