Batch transcoding HEVC(x265) to x264 for smooth playback

Well, phooey. Looks like avconv in libav-tools will accept all but the -hide_banner option…so it accepts the command to do the coversion, but dies after about 30 seconds. The search results I get for that suggest that its a lack of available memory.

So…

Unless somebody knows how to limit the memory that avconv can use, it looks like this program will NOT run on a pi. It’s probably best that it not be run on a pi anyhow.

I’m going to reenable the download link, since my original ffmpeg code works just fine.

We’ve received some (albeit limited) interest in this. If there’s some demand we could make a small CLI wrapper to leverage this. It might be cool to say ‘Here’s Vero 4K which does 10-bit H265’, and here’s an H265 encoder.

I own a vero 2. Me too, I would like to express my interest in a CLI wrapper for the hardware h.264 encoder.

The HW encoder does not give very good quality:file size ratio; as it’s designed for real time (30fps) encoding.

A Vero 2 cannot transcode H265.
