I have used this staging update since a week and today I got the message that there is un update. Is this update overwriting the staging update or something else?

It is an update from staging. When you switched to staging it started a timer that reverts you back to stable updates in two weeks. Also, whatever changes happen in staging do not get undone when you switch to stable.
