That’s where I’m clueless. I have no clue how to do that.
I found this one: GitHub - raspberrypi/rpi-firmware: Firmware files for the Raspberry Pi
Isn’t there a simple command to install that version?

Not trivially – no.
I would suggest waiting instead.
Thought so.
I want to wait, but when can we expect a new version of OSMC having a newer kernel? Because playback is a really important part of the experience, I may need to look into other options for the time being.
There will be an update on Sunday – but we plan to stick with the 5.10 kernel for some time. I’m sure a fix has/will be backported to 5.10.
Ok, then I’ll wait for the update and see what happens.
Updated to the latest osmc today, but issue remains.
The kernel patches from upstream remain the same, so that is expected.
I’m gonna try libreelec. Let’s see if the issue is present there.
If that works for you, then great.
Just installed and tried a video. And no issues. Libreelec also uses 5.10 kernel. So what is different there?
I still prefer to use OSMC, because of the OS. But I need a media player too. At least I could swap an SD card to be able to watch some movies. But if the issue gets resolved in OSMC, that would be great.
Last thing I could try is to do a clean install of OSMC.
Once again, you need to wait for upstream changes to be merged. Then these changes will make it downstream
