Seems like it is at least possible to compile the mt76 driver package on Linux 4.9, see [1].

Do you think is it possible to integrate the driver package [2] into the OSMC build for the Vero 4K+ based on Linux 4.9?

Could you point me to the source of the build based on Linux 4.9?

I’m sure the driver could be backported, but this isn’t something we are keen to look at unless there is a fair amount of demand to support this chipset. We have moved away from supporting a variety of drivers with downstream sources as they create a significant support burden
