Has anyone done this recently?
I have a Vero 1 that has been idle for nearly a year.
I’d like to find some use for it.
Sorry to bump an old topic, but I don’t find anything more recent.

Hi Michael
I hope you are well.
I am sure this could be done, have you tried following some of the instructions above?
Sam
I have not tried yet. I was hoping someone would post a more recent experience.
If not, I’ll give it a shot with what’s here.
BTW (trivial and personal): Just before Christmas I gave my old ATV1 to a school here in rural Thailand. It originally had Crystalbuntu, but now has OSMC. The school is using it to show instructional videos in a classroom that formerly lacked that capability.
Maybe my old Vero should be put to similar use.
Just to follow up. I did this. It works fine. Plex Media Server on a Vero 1 can stream 1080p video with no problems. However, if you play something that needs transcoding, you’ll want a very big temp directory. I tried using an old 4GB USB drive and it wasn’t enough. It gave up on even low resolution (480p) Matroska files. After providing a much larger temp directory drive it easily transcoded 1080p Matroska files.
