I’m pretty sure it should be covered under fair use. I tried the clip on a couple of my devices. A Vero V plays it without an issue but both a Vero 4K and a Raspberry have issues right after they come out of the door. The Vero freeze frames and recovers, The RPi 4 temporarily turns into a pixelated mess. I wonder if this file is encoded such that some spots are a bit too complex for some hardware decoders.
I have just witnessed the same behaviour on a Vero 4K+ and a RPi-400.
No problem on a PC using VLC or Avidemux.
I don’t yet have a Vero V
I’ll have to wait to the vero v then. This happens in more files, this was just the example I was focusing in because it happens at the beginning. Thanks everybody for the help.
Out of curiosity, is the determining factor of if the file has issues or not Dolby Vision related?
Nope, but all of them are 4k, and probably HDR, I’ll have to double check that.
You could try updating to the latest staging release on Vero 4K to see if there are some improvements. The repository should be stable at time of writing and I’ll be releasing the contents as a stable update soon.
Sam
Tried the latest staging release on my Vero4K+, problem persists with ‘cut.mkv’, which freezes (at 10 seconds) and then recovers.
