Once again! This afternoon after 2 crashes trying to read 2 different movies the subtitles reappeared suddenly.
Subtitles are important to my wife and I as we are hard of hearing so we have these movies with subtitles and since we have been using OSMC/Kodi we have never had any issues.
I donāt understand what is happening now. These issues started in early September after the last update. What else can I provide to help me resolve this issue?
Why you even watching mp4 files ? Nowadays 99% is mkv filesā¦
Did you tried already to convert your mp4 file into a mkv file and remux the subtitle into the file ? Itās odd anyways to not remux the sub into the videofile. Here tutorial how to convert
Just drag the subfile into mkv toolnix as aswell.
You can use mkv toolnix for it. Itās very easy to do.
I never ever had an issue when playing mkv files. Mkv files in general in my opinion always work better than mp4 files.
My MP4 files (which are very numerous, more than 2000) date for the most part from a time when MKV was not common.
For a few years, I have been converting these MP4s to MKV using MKVToolNix. And there, since the .srt is embedded in the film, there is necessarily no problem finding it. LOL.
But hey, that is not the question:
why suddenly canāt my .mp4s find the ancillary file anymore?
why when I launch the film and designate the subtitle file located in the same folder, with the same name, does OSMC/Kodi crash?
why when I launch the same film after restarting, do the subtitles reappear?
why does this problem occur from time to time without having changed any settings?
These are the questions.
Have a nice day.
Hasta la vista!
I think Iām going to have difficulty producing a debug log since when I restart after the crash the behavior of the .mp4s which no longer find the .srts no longer occurs.
Subtitles for me work for just one episode I then have to long press stop and enable them for the next episode or file, I select use for all media as I did before but it no longer remembers this setting
