Exactly.
Hardware decoders are pretty strict.
Software decoding is very lenient.
It’s been a long time but I thought x264 decoding defaults were “HD and up” anyway for this very reason.
And there was something about amlogic and VC-1 too but that’s unrelated.

@tanio99 fixed that a long time ago (VC1). We seem to be the only AMLogic platform that can play VC-1 in hardware correctly.
