1080p playback problems on RPi 3 Model B

So basically, I’m trying to play 1080p videos, but it shows heavy pixelation. The videos are 1080p, and they are h264 videos.

All of my videos are located on an external hard drive (Western Digital 2TB MyPassport), connected to a USB hub, which is connected to a Raspberry Pi 3, Model B. When I play the files on my computer directly from the external hard drive, they play fine without any problems.

Audio is okay. I only have problems with video.

Could it be because I’m using Apple’s 12W power supply? If it’s a lack of current, I could try to use my variable power supply.

If you need any more info, just tell me. I’ll be happy to provide logs and more info.

Edit: Forgot to mention that my files are in .mkv format. Also, my RPi is not overclocked.

While it could be that the files are just too “heavy” to be played on the Pi3 you can check the following:

  1. Does it make a difference if you play the file from the local SD card?
  2. Provide mediainfo of the file. Please see the mediainfo section in How to submit a useful support request - General - OSMC

Sorry, I fell asleep yesterday, o I couldn’t answer in time, haha.

Anyways, here’s the mediainfo filfe.

It’s 10 Bit that will not be playable on a Raspberry.
You would need a Vero4k for that to play smoothly

Okay, so how do I lower that?

You would need to convert and reencode
