24p on Sky Glass Air

After a bit of advice if possible. A family member is thinking of purchasing a Vero V. Was about to order for him before realising he’d be running it on a Sky Glass TV, which I believe is a 60hz panel that doesn’t do 24p/ proper frame rate switching. A lot of the content he plans to watch would be 24p.

What options does he have to play this content reasonably well?

On my own tv, I tried setting auto frame rate switching off and locking display to 50Hz, which actually seemed to run a 24p film pretty well. Does the Vero speed up 24p to 25p here? I’m assuming the sky glass tv runs content natively at 50hz so this could be an option.

Locking my display to 60hz was a bit of a mess however. Judder and frame skipping.

Any chance you can connect your Vero V to his TV temporarily and upload a log? Then we can see exactly what the TV is capable of and advise

That would be difficult unfortunately. We live at opposite ends of the country and I’m rarely round there.

I love him dearly, but not enough to post my Vero to him to test . I do have an Odroid N2+ (running Coreelec) lying around that I could send him and ask to upload a log. Would that be helpful?

Honestly, if the TV can only do 60p then there’s not much he can do and the Vero should do as good a job as any other device.

I would be surprised if it does not advertise support and accept other refresh rates and adjusts things in the display itself.
