Hi everyone,
I want to add ambilight to my television using my vero 4k+.
Right now im trying to figure out what would be the best way to achieve this.
Would installing hyperion.ng trough the script provided on this forum and then adding 2 xiaomi yeelight v2 lightbulbs to the sides if the tv work?
Would it be better to add 2x the aurora led light stip? I would be able to cover the left side and the top, and the second one to cover the right side and the bottom. Is it possible to setup the led strips this way or would i need 4 led strips (top bottom left and right)?
Are there any other manufacturers that are better suited for a setup like this?
Can i still use HW acceleration?
Thanks for any help!
hyperion.ng script works great. I’ve been using it for quite some time now after compiling it manually for a long time. I still build from source but it makes it really easy to install all dependencies.
I have no experience with Xiamoi strips. From what I could see you will have a limited range in both cases as it does not look like the Aurora strips allow per LED colour. There is no need to get 4 strips; not sure how to configure your setup but I guess you could configure it as 2 LED’s at the top, or 1 LED left and 1 right. Are these Hue compatible or how will you address these?
HW acceleration should still work although; haven’t used it in a long while as I have a V4L-setup which covers all my devices. Don’t know what will happen when I switch to a HDR setup but for now that works perfectly.
There are a couple of pre-built ambilight solutions that spring to mind; Lightberry is the 1st I can think of. You can also built your own solution; there are some (outdated but probably still valid) DIY guides out there.
