When you get a powered hub like 4 Port USB 3.0 Powered Hub - OSMC you connect it to the vero with the blue cable and to the mains with the power adapter and then all the usb sticks and hdd’s and other stuff you connect to the hub that get power via usb get power from the hub and not the vero.
Not sure how you can compare your phone charger with that
