An error occurred while writing the image

Picked up a Raspberry Pi 2 today and didn’t make it too far. Looking for some help getting things installed.

Precisely explaining your issue would be how you would start.

I assume this error occurred with the host installer. Please upload the log from Home or C:\Users\YourName directory. Also check for write-protect switch on cards etc

(no switch on card)

You can try and use Win32 Disk Imager to burn one of the images from osmc.tv/download/images.

Something is locking the disk. Turn off antivirus scanning for inserted disks temporarily. Another thing to check (people have done it !), is that you’re not running the installer off the card itself?

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnddddd there it is.

quite some days ago, you helped others with this hint, but it is still valuable in 02/2017!

In my case, this time it was “BoxCryptor” which grabs all SD- and USB Media. Just right-click “Exit” to the system tray’s BoxCryptor Icon, create the OSMC disk and later start BoxCryptor from Start Menu - that’s all.

Last year it was “WinAmp Media Player” - same situation and help there

BTW,
does anybody know an equivalent to Linux’ “lsof” program for Windoze? Because this would easily help in such cases…
