Annoying XVID codec

Is there any way to get that stupid xvid codec installed on Vero4k?

I keep getting stuff that is encoded that way and I have to throw it out since none of my devices seem to be able to play anything with that codec.

It should just fall back to software and play.

Debug log may give some clues.

What exactly is the problem? What do you see on your screen?

Looks like the file can’t be opened properly here at all.
Try copying it locally to a thumb drive and playing it.

This is exactly the problem. Any time I get a file that is encoded with this it fails to play. Says I need to install the xvid codec.

Where does it say that? Can you take a photo or screenshot?
Any luck with local playback?

These particular files just fail to open. Others (in the past) show https://www.xvid.com/

Looks like these files were, in fact corrupted somehow.

The headers in the file were jumbled somehow, causing the system to not play them.

A “real” XVid file plays fine.
