Apt update error oldstable

Glad to hear this.

It seems that hotfix is no longer available at the link provided in this thread. Would it be possible to reupload it? I’m having issue with upgrade as mentioned here, wanted to follow successful path.

Your system is too old for us to support upgrading as of 2023.

You will need to perform a new install.

Thank you Sam. That’s a world of pain of resetupping all plugins I have.

So I’ve tried the path above, i.e.:

sudo apt-get update --allow-releaseinfo-change
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Make sure you do not have any broken packages, repos whatsover. After running dist-upgrade - around 170+ packages were downloaded, including new boot images.

On reboot OSMC Updater kicks in which downloads 700+ packages and reboots. This brought me to 2022 Oct OSMC version with all plugins and their settings intact.

I’ve upgraded from 2020 Oct version.

Please mind that Kodi 19.4 version in there and for me - part of plugins now require updates which are not available. And that is exactly the reason I wasn’t upgrading - OSMC team has done a great job supporting cross-version upgrades, but Kodi is not that great.

Anyway, I have to fix those things now - I hope it will help someone.

This isn’t something we would officially support – upgrading after two years is quite an extensive update, but I’m glad it worked.

I’m with OSMC since Raspbmc and huge cross version upgrades always worked for me flawlessly even there, so I’m not surprised.

Good job Sam and OSMC team!

Thanks for your kind words.

Cheers

Sam
