Hello OSMC team,

I’m from Germany and stumbled upon the Vero V by chance.

I’ve owned an Nvidia Shield Pro (2019) for about 4–5 years now,

and I’ve been very happy with it so far, but it’s starting to show its age.

I also have to admit that Android is beginning to get on my nerves.

I’ve done some reading on your website and in the community forums,

but I still have a few questions that haven’t been answered yet.

I’m hoping to find some answers here before I decide to buy the Vero V.

Does the Vero V play:

AV1 Dolby Atmos / Dolby Vision / 4K

Dolby Atmos 4K MKV

Dolby Vision 4K MKV

This is very important to me because I have many files with these specs—

except for AV1 4K Dolby Vision/Dolby Atmos, which the Shield can’t handle (it only supports AV1 at 1080p).

I’d appreciate some feedback…

Yes, the Vero V plays it all without issues. You may stumble upon a file here or there that deviates from the standards, then just report it in the forums and they normally fix it soon.

You need to know support for Dolby Vision is only complete if you have a display that supports TV-led DV. Without that, all DV files will be converted to HDR10.

Hi Sam, I have an LG OLED65G19LA with HDMI eARC, and to go with it—perfectly matched to my OLED— the LG DSP11RA 7.1.4 sound system with TV eARC/ARC HDMI.

Google AI says your TV does TV-led so you should be good.

I have one more question: the Vero V only has 4 GB of RAM—is that enough for everything?
And do I expand the RAM using the SD card (32 GB)? Wouldn't that affect the speed?

Yes, 4GB RAM is (more than) enough and 1GB more than the Shield Pro. You don’t need to expand it.
