Atv1-- update errors and boot loop w/frown face

Hello,

First, I’d like to say that I’ve searched the forum and wiki’s for answers for a few hours and have not been able to find anything specific to this error or issue. I have also re-installed OSMC, and am having the same issues. I used Crystalbuntu on my atv1 flawlessly for over a year until I “upgraded” to OSMC.

After migrating to OSMC, videos would fail to play about a third the time, or play with compromised sound (higher tone and out of sync). It would also produce an error upon trying to update (screenshots attached). I had been living with this annoyance for several months. So, today, I decided to try to resolve it. I screenshot the errors and went to Google and the OSMC fourms. I couldn’t find anything specific to these errors (just some talk about rebooting gracefully), so I tried to update again. For some reason when I tried to update today, it left me in a frown face boot loop (see attached).

I ended up using the OSMC tool to create a USB install and got it out of the boot loop (but lost all my settings and data). However, it still gives the same errors when trying to update.

Can someone please let me know how I may try to resolve this issue? I miss my old Crystalbuntu install that “just worked” all the time… :frowning:

Thank you,

logs here: http://paste.osmc.io/bufacalubo

boot loop, keeps flashing this image (resolved w/ complete re-install)

current error that pops up about half way through update install

sometimes I get this error before the update tries to install

Seriously? No help?

This question has been answered several times before, did you try searching?

Yes, I searched for literally hours. Please, point me in the right direction. I tired my best with posting logs, screenshots, and error messages. Your response makes it seem like I’m entitled, I’m not. Apparently, I am just missing something. And no help after a week of spending a significant time researching this and taking the time to post here. The error message itself says to post on the forum, so I don’t understand your snarky response (now deleted). Thank you

I haven’t deleted any response… if you search for fsck AppleTV you will find your answer. I don’t believe telling you do to a search is snarky.

Kids these days…

After looking at this, I can see some ways we can improve the reliability of the update, even when a device is powered off unexpectedly (this is the main cause).

I suggest you wait for the next update, install a new image, and let us know if there are problems after that
