Audio and Video sync issue

Hi everyone,

I’ve been unsuccessfully trying to search the forum for the sync issue I have, so I’m opening a new topic.

The issue happens while watching movies/tv shows at random times - the audio and video become desynchronized so that audio is lagging behind video.
If I stop the playback and resume it again, audio and video become synchronized, but there is no telling when will it desynchronize again.
If I try to rewind 10 seconds as soon as desync happens, it will sync again.
The issue happens on a different number of files and it seems not connected to the files.

I’m running OSMC on RPI3 with an external 2TB usb HDD.

I’ve managed to log the issue: https://paste.osmc.tv/oyizayazuy
Desync happens just after 09:02:50.

Here are the details about the file played while logging the issue: https://paste.osmc.tv/kemokavuha.tex

I’m more then willing to provide any other information in order to resolve the issue.

The issue should be fixed in the next update, if it’s what I think it is.

I’d appreciate it if you could test this and provide feedback before we potentially release this as an update to other users. To test this update:

  1. Login via the command line
  2. Edit the file /etc/apt/sources.list
  3. Add the following line: deb http://apt.osmc.tv stretch-devel main
  4. Run the following commands to update: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade && reboot
  5. Your system should have have received the update.

Please see if the issue is resolved.

I also recommend you edit /etc/apt/sources.list again and remove the line that you added after updating. This will return you to the normal update channel.

Cheers

Sam

Hi Sam,

I have updated my installation and I can confirm that there is no issue.
I’ve played fully the same file 2 times and it played without a single desync.

Thanks for the help!

I can definitely confirm that after a few days of usage there is no issue.

Thanks again for the help!
