A while ago I upgraded to Kodi 18 to 19. Currently I’m on the 2023.01-01 version. My Vero is connected via optical to my Logitech Z5500 audio set.
The issues I have, that I did not have on Kodi 18, are:
Sound goes out of sync slowly. It’s fine on the average TV show but during movies it becomes noticeable rather quickly. Pausing playback makes the problem way worse a lot faster. Stopping playback and restarting it fixes it temporarily.
Sound occasionally cuts out for a second. The problem is not the source file; if I play the same 30 minutes again the problem might not occur at all, or at wildly different times.
The audio set, while old, doesn’t seem to be the issue. My gaming PC is connected to it on direct input and that sound doesn’t cut out at all.
To get a better understanding of the problem you are experiencing we need more information from you. The best way to get this information is for you to upload logs that demonstrate your problem. You can learn more about how to submit a useful support request here.
Depending on the used skin you have to set the settings-level to standard or higher, in summary:
enable debug logging at settings->system->logging
reboot the OSMC device twice(!)
reproduce the issue
upload the log set (all configs and logs!) either using the Log Uploader method within the My OSMC menu in the GUI or the ssh method invoking command grab-logs -A
publish the provided URL from the log set upload, here
Thanks for your understanding. We hope that we can help you get up and running again shortly.
I wasn’t paying attention all the time but I did hear the sound cut out at least once, around the 32 minute mark. Sound was noticeably out of sync by then as well.
Are the instructions below still accurate? I did that, it seemed to update a bunch of stuff and rebooted but I’m still on 19.5 (and still have the HDR audio issue).
Run the following command to add the staging repository: echo 'deb http://apt.osmc.tv bullseye-devel main' | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/osmc-devel.list
Run the following commands to update: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade && reboot
Your system should have have received the update.
Please see if the issue is resolved.
I also recommend you remove /etc/apt/sources.list.d/osmc-devel.list after updating.
This will deactivate the staging repository. You can do so with the following command: sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/osmc-devel.list.
Please note that we will automatically disable this update channel after 14 days on your device in case you forget to do so to ensure that your system reverts to the stable update channel.
The sound cut out at least once, not sure on the timestamp sorry. The issue seems totally random so it’s a pain to reproduce. Sometimes it happens several times per movie/tv show, sometimes it’s just fine.
