Audio Passthrough not working

Just trying to get audio passthrough working on my Vero 4K+. My setup is:

  • Vero 4K+ connected to TV via HDMI

  • TV connected to SONOS playbar through S/PDIF

I’ve followed the instructions in this wiki post (Recommended audio settings when connecting your OSMC device to your AVR/soundbar’s S/PDIF input), but when I attempt to play a video file with AC3 (Dolby Digital) audio nothing comes through my playbar where it had previously before I enabled passthrough.

Is there something obvious I’m missing?
Thanks :slightly_smiling_face:

Difficult to say without logs, but in essence you should be following the instructions for connecting vero with HDMI, not with S/PDIF.

Then, you will only be able to use passthrough if your TV supports AC3 or DTS. Often, the manual will be silent on that (mine is).

Do you mean no sound at all, or the sound comes out of the TV speakers? If the latter, check the settings on your TV.

Thanks @grahamh, I think I worked it out actually. The SONOS playbar doesn’t have a HDMI input, so I have now gone S/PDIF straight from the Vero 4K+ to the playbar’s S/PDIF input and the passthrough is now working.

Looks like my TV is unable to passthrough AC3 audio through S/PDIF

Most TVs can’t do that…
