Audio passthrough only working for DTS-HD master and Dolby True HD, not working for regular Dolby/DTS

Hello,
I have a new OSMC Vero 4K+ with Kodi 18.9, connected in HDMI to a Marantz NR1506 AVR (5.1 amp).
Audio passthrough doesn’t work for regular Dolby or DTS: the AVR receives PCM Stereo and doesn’t play any sound.
However DTS-HD master and Dolby True HD files work fine in passthrough.

Those files do work in passthrough:

2021-02-04 00:49:51.432 T:4069600448 NOTICE: VideoPlayer::OpenFile: smb://debian/Downloads/DOLBY_TRUEHD_SOUND_CHECK_71-thedigitaltheater.mkv2021-02-04 00:51:49.074 T:4069600448 NOTICE: VideoPlayer::OpenFile: smb://debian/Downloads/DTS-HD_MA_SOUND_CHECK_51-thedigitaltheater.mkv

For the files that work I have noticed that the created stream is 8 channels:
2021-02-04 00:33:20.394 T:3576684768 NOTICE: Creating audio stream (codec id: 86020, channels: 8, sample rate: 48000, pass-through)
although DTS-HD_MA_SOUND_CHECK_51-thedigitaltheater.mkv is a 6 channels (5.1) file.

Any ideas?

The Debian paste service seems to be down.

Can you post some logs via My OSMC, so we can also check your audio configuration?

Thanks

Sam

Weird, it was up minutes ago.
here it is: http://paste.osmc.io/urukuyunid.vhdl
Thanks for the help

That’s only the Kodi Log. Please upload full logs to review/recommend your audio settings.

here are the full logs https://paste.osmc.tv/uyuzomuhit
sorry I’m not home now so can’t reboot and produce smaller logs, but the timestamps in the Kodi logs should indicate where to look

When you’re home, please turn on debug logging and repeat.

Will do, downloaded a bunch of Dolby/TrueHD/Atmos and DTS/DTS-MA/DTS-X trailers to check what works and what doesn’t.

Please also check the HDMI Audio out setting on your AVR. It should be set to ‘AVR’.

ahem… got home, everything works flawlessly… will collect the right logs if it happens again, thanks for the tips

If it happens again, try reboot the Vero after making sure both the TV and AVR are both on.
