I accepted the latest update in early August, but it seems to have partly failed, e.g.
- Various components (including My OSMC and the OSCM skin) are stated to be incompatible with the current version of Kodi. This message comes up at reboot, and I am unable to access My OSMC.
- Kodi is still on V18.9.
It is still usable, as I use a different skin (Eminence).
Thoughts?
Can you still access MyOSMC? Can you try to update again?
That skin seems not compatible with v19
No, I can’t access My OSMC, so I don’t think I can force it to update? Or is there a way without My OSMC?
Thanks for pointing out that Eminence is not compatible with v19. I guess this might be part of the reason for the failed update?
To be honest I’d be happy to continue running v18.9 of Kodi when I read about all the problems people are having with v19. But losing access to My OSMC is annoying.
You would need to access the command line (see below) and execute
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
If any error displayed please report back.
Details regarding how to access the command line interface can be found here on our Wiki: Accessing the command line - General - OSMC
I think your system is a partly updated so not a good situation to be in. I believe best option is to do full upgrade to v19. Alternative is a fresh install of v18 and disable updates (not recommended).
Thanks for the tips.
Since it is still running OK, I might wait for the next OSMC release and then try the command line as you suggest.
I also see on the Kodi forum that there is a hack for the Eminence skin to enable it to run under Kodi 19. This isn’t absolutely essential for me, but I really like Eminence, so it’s good to know that it’s possible.
