I use a 2.39:1 screen. When I watch 16:9 content, for example, the image extends beyond the top and bottom of the screen.
Lumagen or Envy offer the option to lock the image to the screen height using Auto Aspect Ratio. Then all other film formats are adjusted to my screen height, and you get black bars on the sides.
This is a great feature, especially for movies with varying aspect ratios.
Hmmm. That might be difficult to work on as AFAIK none of the devs have a 2.39:1 screen.
Can you post a log so we can see your screen EDID?

Right now, I’m using for Auto Aspect Ratio a great program with the HTPC.
I couldn’t understand the problem at first. I thought you had a wide-screen TV. It seems you have a projector which is set up so that a full-height image is taller than the height of your screen so that typical letter-boxed movies fill the screen side-to-side.
So what you want is for 16:9 to be shown reduced in size. Or to put it another way, the projected height of all pictures should be the same - only the width should change with the aspect ratio.
Is that what you want to happen?
