I guess my problem is similar to what’s described in this thread from many, many years ago: Automatic audio passthrough settings
My Vero V goes to my AVR which then has an HDMI output to my TV (and second to projector). When viewing through my TV, I can chose whether the sound is output to TV (in which case it expects a 2ch downmix) or my AVR in which case it can decode the full Dolby TrueHD / DTS HD-MA streams.
The problem I have is that regardless of what setting I use on the Vero (Optimised, best or fixed), it seems to stick ridigly to the audio configuration channel settings. So if I have it set to 7.1, I get the lovely sound out of my AVR but if I’m watching via the TV, I get nothing or just the L+R (no audio from centre channel). I can then switch to 2ch in which case I get the downmix so it’s viewable and audible on the TV but if I want to listen via my AVR, I only get the downmix unless I change back to 7.1…
Now what is bizarre is that my Sony UHD BD player as a source seems to manage this without an issue. If I start playing back content and listen via the AVR, I get the full multichannel, but if I watch on the TV, I get the downmix.
Having to go in the settings and constantly change is a real shame.
Is there any way I can optimise this?
