I had a whim to try a different background, so loaded some jpegs from my collection and tried setting them with the default OSMC skin.
I’ve tried with both RPI2B+ and vero1, and end with my image displayed with an overcast of a sort of blue - not what I expected.
Have I missed something?

Check this thread, my assumption is in the latest version should be fine but maybe it was not included.
I had to revert this if I remember correctly as it caused problems. There seemed to be no overlay at all and a white screen
If I understand this correctly, there’s no point in selecting a custom background in skin config, as there will always be this blue cast (until some changes are made)

Yes – the commit that introduced some more options (including getting rid of this) seems to be troublesome at the moment.
