This works out of the box, no problem. There is also a non-backlit version that is a little cheaper. I typically follow a site slickdeals.net and wait for them to pop up on sale for about $20-30 cheaper than this amazon price.
But I don’t known if this one will work on OSMC… it’s a pity to paid each time for a remote if not works with OSMC/Kodi
I known there is an official kodi remote, but without keyboard and not really my taste for the design.
You do realise you can remap remote buttons by creating a suitable remote.xml ?
It’s unlikely that any random remote you buy will have all buttons correctly mapped as there is poor standardisation of the button codes for some buttons. So it’s typically necessary to create a custom remote.xml to correct the button mappings of some buttons.
Yes, I’ve tried to change some changes on config files ( osmc_rf.evmap osmc-remote-lircd.conf but without success. And irw doesn’t show nothing ( the program run correctly but don’t show anything ) and ir-keytable said he can’t change the protocols…
So, after 2 hours of misc tests, I’ve decided to bought another remote to save time ^^
Thanks for the information !
I doesn’t have any remote.xml file in this folder :-/
But there is one on the disk located by “locate” command here: /usr/share/kodi/system/keymaps/remote.xml
I looked the content of this remote.xml, I don’t known yet how to change things to match with my remote, but I’ll investigate, thanks for your help
There isn’t a remote.xml in /home/osmc/.kodi/userdata/keymaps by default - you have to create one with the changes that you want. You should not edit the one in /usr/share/kodi/system/keymaps/remote.xml because it is provided with Kodi and will be overwritten on the next Kodi update, but you can look at it to get ideas of what you might need.
