Hi i am already a long owner of a vero 4k and i really love it. Thank you so much everyone for their hard work.
What i wish is that there should be a pinned topic which explains how to setup the best settings to setup in vero in general 4k tv, regular 1080p tv ect.
Especially as beginner you are confused very much and overwhelmed by all the informations about vero and what you can do with vero.
Is there any thread planned for that ?
I even now already forgot which settings i have in my vero and it seems i have to remember them when i update as i already read in some threads people complaining their settings were changed by the update. So an thread which settings are best for which tv… would be a dream come true.
Just want to confirm the best settings for HDR. Is there a point in changing display maximum luminance if HDR processing force passthrough is selected?
I’m also confused with ‘’ use limited colour range". My TV has a PC mode would I be better of with full colour range?
If you are connecting to a device whose primary function is as a display for a PC, e.g. a monitor, then you should probably use full-range RGB output. If its primary function is to be connected to consumer video or TV equipment, e.g. a television, then you should use limited range YUV/YCbCr.
I’m 90% sure that the Display Max Luminance setting is only used when converting HDR to SDR, but it’s always possible they may have added some other function to that value when I wasn’t looking.
This setting has also an influence on the subtitle and OSD brightness when watching HDR movies on HDR TVs. I have set it to the maximum of 350, but I also changed the subtitle color to grey (which is only affecting text-based subs). Now SRT subs and PGS/VOBSUB subs look very alike in terms of color and brightness. Keeping the sub color on white while having the luminance set to 350 would result in way too bright text-based subs in HDR movies. Of course those settings will differ on different TVs and also depend on the TV’s picture settings.
