Can I use an Apple Superdrive with my Rpi3?

I have a RPi3 running OSMC. It works great an OTT streaming box. I’d like to add a DVD player to it. I want to keep controlling everything simple, so I want to run it thru my alway-on RPi and use the TV remote (HDMI-CEC).

We have an unused Apple Superdrive laying around, so I was wondering if it’s possible to hook that up.

Has anyone done that? How difficult is it?

I remember years ago using an HP external DVD Drive successfully on a Pi B+ on Raspbmc/XBMC, so I suspect an Apple Superdrive may work on a Pi3 - I would plug it in and give it a bash.
