Can’t get masking to work correctly in OSMC scope skin

Hi guys I’ve got the vero V , all my movies are listed as. …. E.g movie (year) AR235.mkv.
I do have the underscore lines either side of the AR tag .
I’ve used aspect ratio detector software to tag them. All , now am I correct in when I’ve got a 16:9 movie tagged as AR178 the auto masking should kick in which I’ve got enabled should disable !! The 16:9 movies are still being cropped in 2:35:1 as is set in the skin configuration
I’m using a 2.35:1 projector screen , I use the lens shift functions on my epson projector to move between the 2 .
I’ve tried resetting the vero box and started from scratch but still same any ideas ?

Are the movies with tagged file names scraped into your library? Or are you accessing the files via the videos section, without using the library?

I’ve tried importing them through add media and accessing them through Jellyfin Kodi add on to no avail !

Can you double check whether the basic condition for this to work is given, please: Open the info dialog when selecting one of the movies in question and select the button “Refresh” in that dialog. The complete file path and file name should be shown above the dialog buttons then… Does this path show the tags you’ve added correctly?

Ok just done that over a 16.9 movie , went to info, refresh it showed the file name movie with the tag , tried playing file still being masked to 2:35
Thanks for the help by the way

Thx for checking that out! Can you upload a full set of logs so I can check all relevant settings?

You can learn more about how to submit a useful support request here.

Depending on the used skin you have to set the settings-level to standard or higher, in summary:

  • enable debug logging at settings->system->logging

  • reboot the OSMC device twice(!)

  • reproduce the issue

  • upload the log set (all configs and logs!) either using the Log Uploader method within the My OSMC menu in the GUI or the ssh method invoking command grab-logs -A

  • publish the provided URL from the log set upload, here

Thanks for your understanding. We hope that we can help you get up and running again shortly.

Ok I’ll be back later on with what you need , thanks

Will definitely need logs :slightly_smiling_face: I’ve tested this here and it’s working without issues.

Here it is …….

Any ideas ??

Unfortunately, I can’t see the skin settings from the logs - which I thought I could. You have the automatic masking setting enabled in the skin settings?
The filename tags do follow this scheme? OSMC Skin Scope Mask feature - #14 by Chillbo

Oh yeah I’ve got the masking set to 2.35 and auto masking is on as well. Files are ………
Movie (year) AR235.mkv

Underscore either side of AR235 I might add

Will test with AR235 on my system specifically. :+1:t2:

235 is just an example it doesn’t seem to alter with any aspect ratio , if you test with anything please test with 1:78.1 or 1:87:1 but I can’t see it working with any to be honest

That’s really strange as it works flawlessly here on my test setup :face_with_monocle:

VideoPlayer::OpenFile: nfs://192.168.1.41/mnt/user/Movies/Against All Odds (1984)/Against All Odds (1984)_AR187_.mkv

I see _AR187_ instead of _AR178_ … ??? Could that be the small error?

I’ll check it out and try another one what’s AR178 , does it not support AR187 or should it be AR185 ?

Right silly old me with a Ar178 file it’s disengaging like it should do and works fine with Also a AR233 file as well the ar187 files are the problem
Can someone give me a full list of supported tags please before I run aspect ratio detector again and sort my files out !!
Many many thanks for all your help !!! :+1::wink:

I understand @Chillbo 's article that way that only aspect ratio tags .AR178. , .AR200. , .AR233. , .AR235. and .AR240. are supported. @Chillbo correct me if I’m wrong, please.
