Cannot change static IP address for wireless network connection (WLAN)

You should be able to set a static IP in My OSMC. But I’ve never actually tested this in an environment where DHCP is disabled.

The 169.x addresses are private addresses that are fallbacks in the event of no DHCP server being present or a failed negotiation.

I’ll post some advice on configuration via the command line shortly. This will be a persistent change and solve your issue.

Then when time permits, we can investigate the My OSMC issue. Indeed — worst case scenario you earn yourself a reinstall but that shouldn’t happen.

Today I followed darwindesign’s way, and what can I say: Everything seems to be “tickety boo”.
I disconnected ethernet lan, rebootet and tested wlan only, and all seems to be fine. The wlan connection reads “5 GHz, 866 / 866 Mbit/s, WPA2” on 192.168.1.6, which is ok now.

And I will stick for now with enabled DHCP-Settings in the Fritzbox and my managed HP-ProCurve Gigabit switch, in which I had to re-enable (and replug) DHCP also.
